Who we are. The Safety Research and Intelligence Group, Inc. (“SafetyIntel,” “we,” “us,” “our”) operates SafetyIntel.org (the “Site”). This Cookie Policy explains how we use cookies and similar technologies on the Site and how you can manage your choices.

1) What are cookies and similar tech?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device. We also use similar technologies (pixels, local storage, scripts) to operate the Site, secure it, measure audiences, and process payments.


2) What we use (by category)

A. Strictly necessary (always on)

Used for core functionality (session state, load balancing, security tokens, remembering your consent choice).
Typical duration: session to 12 months.
Legal basis (EEA/UK): not subject to consent.

B. Security / Fraud / Abuse (always on)

Tools that detect and block malicious or automated activity (e.g., Google reCAPTCHA v2/v3/Enterprise).
Purpose: bot detection and abuse prevention.
Legal basis (EEA/UK): legitimate interests (security).

C. Functional (preferences, UI enhancements)

Examples: language choice, saved forms. Currently not used.
Default (EEA/UK): off until consent.
Default (US/MX/RoW): could be on if enabled in the future.

D. Analytics / Measurement

In use: Matomo (self-hosted) to understand aggregate usage and improve content.
Reserved (not necessarily active): Matomo Cloud, Google Analytics.
Default (EEA/UK): off until you consent in Cookie Preferences.
Default (US/MX/RoW): on with the ability to opt out in Cookie Preferences.
Retention (typical): 12–24 months.

E. Advertising / Retargeting

Not in use. If added later, we will provide details and opt-out controls, and continue to honor GPC.

F. Payments / Checkout

In use: Stripe for payments and fraud prevention.
Classification: necessary/security.


EEA/UK (GDPR/ePrivacy)

  • Prior opt-in consent is required for non-essential cookies.
  • Non-essential cookies are disabled by default.
  • Banner offers “Accept all”, “Reject non-essential”, and “Cookie preferences.”

California (CPRA)

Mexico

  • Banner/modal provides a short-form notice (Aviso de Privacidad breve), with links to the full Aviso de Privacidad (ES) and this Cookie Policy.
  • You can disable non-essential cookies via Cookie Preferences.

Rest of World

  • Informational banner with a link to Cookie Preferences; regional requirements are applied as needed.

4) Your choices

  • Cookie Preferences. Use Cookie Preferences (or the footer link) to accept, reject non-essential, or customize categories at any time.
  • Browser settings. You may block or delete cookies via your browser; doing so may affect Site functionality.
  • Signals. We honor GPC as a global opt-out of sale/share and ad tech. We do not currently respond to Do Not Track (DNT).

Consent scope & logs. Consent choices apply to safetyintel.org (and configured subdomains) and are kept for up to 24 months.
